Liverpool are in a deep end if they do not get a victory in France. Lyon defeated the five times European Cup winner a fortnight ago at Anfield Road and now they are set to repeat this feature in their own backyard. The French top side will be hosting crisis form Liverpool side in Champions League Matchday 4.
Lyon are in the driving seat of the Champions League Group E and they look surely to secure a spot in the last 16. They could confirm their spot in the last 16 by beating Liverpool and virtually also knocking them out of the Champions League too. Lyon looks to have a strong squad available for Tuesday match as they came out winners with 1-0 and without any injuries against St. Etienne. Key players Cris, Makoun, Govou and Lisandro will certainly be in the starting lineup.
Liverpool have no choice but to win against Lyon if they want to preserve their chances in reaching the last 16. Manager Rafa Benitez will have some tough decision to make as his captain Gerrard is doubtful against Lyon. Fernando Torres will start and must certainly be on painkillers. Their weekend came crumbling down as they went down at Fulham 3-1 with 2 men sent off so this tie could put further misery for the Liverpool Reds. Albert Riera and Martin Kelly are injured while Javier Mascherano will return to marshal the midfield.
This is do or die situation for Liverpool. The Reds are desperate to win and Rafa Benitez has been there before. Lyon are virtually through to the next round so maybe a few fringe players could feature so watch out for a Liverpool surging striker in Lyon. Check out Betsson as they are offering Liverpool at 2.90 for a win.
