Atalanta - Genoa

Both clubs have already decided their positions at the table. Visitors could claim Intertoto table spot, but it is well known that some Italian clubs don’t like this competition due to the early start of the season and problems that they could expect later during the season.

Atalanta currently sits at the eleventh position and only aim in this season is achieved. They only have wanted to escape relegation battle and with perfect home form they have shown quality for mid-table positions. Del Nerri’s offensive style of football was successful especially against smaller teams, whose main aim is to keep clean sheet. They have managed to score about two goals per match average at home. Besides some new young talented players like Floccari and Padoini, but key man in Del Nerri’s team was experienced Doni. He has played as like in the best days and he became the best goal scorer in Atalana’s history in Serie A. Some bigger clubs are interested in him, but it is hard to believe that Orobici will let him leave. Anyway, Done and co will continue with attacking style of playing and without pressure they could beat any team at Bergamo.

On the other hand Genoa slipped at ninth position after last week’s defeat against Lazio at home. Main reason for bad result was absence of best striker Borrielo, who already has played too many matches in this season and he has to take a rest. He is the main reason why Genoa spent the most time at mid-table positions. Desire to beat any rival was the main creator of their playing and they where successful in the most of their appearances. President Preziosi wants to keep main players in the team, but it is hard to believe that Borrielo will continue career at Genoa after perfect season like this. Anyway, they will keep main structure of the team and with some new signings they could be one of the pretenders for UEFA Cup table positions in the next season. In their last match in this season they will try to stay unbeaten at Bergamo and finish season with positive mind in their heads.
